About Us

Welcome to Leopold Little Athletics

Leopold Little Athletics Club was formed in 1976 and through its history has produced a number of outstanding junior athletes. Some of whom have gone on to represent Australia at Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Others have gone onto AFL careers. Many of our juniors have participated at Regional, State and National levels. During the season (which runs from October to March) athletes in age groups from under 8 through to under 16 compete in a variety of different events including sprints, distance, hurdles, walks, discus, shot put, high jump, long jump, triple jump and javelin (u/11’s up).

Championships: As well as the regular interclub competition, all athletes get the opportunity to compete in Relay Championships, PB Day, Handicap events and the Geelong Track & Field Championships.

On Track: Our under 6 & 7’s athletes participate in a program called “On Track”, where the young athletes learn how to run, jump and throw correctly. They also have the opportunity each week to do a couple of different events on track.

Training: Training is held at Leopold Primary School on Wednesday nights from 4.15 – 5.15pm. This is optional but is a great way to keep fit and improve your skills along with spending time with your friends!

Cross Country: During the winter months a number of our athletes participate in Cross Country which is run by GLAC and held at different venues around Geelong.
